The NHTSA changes their crash test, making it tougher to receive 5 stars. A few of the changes are the all new side-pole test and a wider range of test dummy sizes. The new side pole test simulates a car sliding sideways into a pole or tree and can reveal the weaknesses that are not shown in the traditional barrier test. The other change is the different crash-test dummy sizes, which creates a visual of trauma occupants of all sizes would endure during a collision. With all of these changes, the Hyundai Sonata received 5 stars overall while the Toyota Camry only received 3 stars and the Nissan Versa was at the bottom of the list, only scoring 2 out of 5 stars.

Hyundai Sonata becomes the most shopped vehicle in the automotive industry
According to Complete, a Kantar Media Company, the Hyundai Sonata has been the most shopped vehicle, triumphing over the Toyota Camry, both the Honda Accord and Civic, and the Ford Fusion. There was an eleven percent increase in Hyundai shoppers in January compared to January of 2010. This year is expected to be the strongest year for Hyundai, with the all new Sonata Hybrid, averaging 40 mpg and the all new design on the 2011 Elantra which also averages 40 mpg!!! You can also get the Sonata with a Turbo instead of the 2.4 liter engine. The Sonata's design isn't the only reason why it is the most shopped car, it also has to do with it's amazing safety features. The Sonata is the first midsized sedan to receive a five-star crash rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
