Due to the recent unveiling of the fuel economy reimbursement plan there was a little bit of anxiety among some of our Hyundai owners.  After a press conference at the Los Angeles Auto Show Hyundai Motor America's CEO, John krafcik, announced that 90 percent of Hyundai owners are pleased with the Reimbursement Program.

Hyundai Wins the Best Popular Certified Pre-Owned Program for the Second Year in a Row

Hyundai won the Best Popular Certified Pre-Owned Program in Intellichoice's 14th annual Certified Pre-Owned Awards for the second year in a row.  The programs were evaluated in nine different areas that consumers felt were the most valuable to their decision-making process.  Those areas are: warranty, title verification, inspection process, roadside assistance, special financing, return/exchange policies, program and dealer compliance, cost of ownership and market penetration.  The manufacturers were divided into two categories, Premium and Popular.  Hyundai competed in the Popular category along with 15 other brands like Honda and Chevrolet.  Hyundai's Certified Pre-Owned program provides the buyers with a 10 year/100k mile powertrain warranty (from original in-service date), 150 point inspection, Roadside Assistance, Rental car coverage ($35/day up to 10 days per occurance), towing coverage (up to $75 per occurance), 90 days free trial of XM Satellite Radio, and a complimentary Carfax.

ARK Perfomance and Hyundai Team Up for the 2012 Sema Show

Hyundai is teaming up with ARK Performance to create an ultra high-performance track edition Genesis Coupe R-Spec which will debut at the 2012 Sema Show.  The ARK model will give the 3.8L Genesis Coupe an impressive 395 horsepower and 340 ft-lb of torque.  The coupe will get flared over-fenders, front splitter, and a carbon fiber hood.  Aside from the exterior changes, the ARK Genesis will have significant under the hood modifications which will include ARK Performance intake, oil cooler, Brian Crower 4.2 stroker kit, BTRcc blueprinting and a light weight pulley kit.  Other modifications include: roll cage, carbon plate clutch kit, ARK Performance DTP coilover system and a carbon wing.  Look for the ARK edition Genesis Coupe at this years 2012 Sema Show at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

2013 Hyundai Santa Fe Among Most Important All-New Debuts

The re-designed 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe was added to Total Car Score's list of "most important all-new 2013 models entering showrooms this fall."  The all new Santa Fe will now be offered as a two-row, five passenger SUV, known as the Santa Fe Sport.  The Santa Fe Sport will feature a 2.4L engine or a 2.0 turbo charged engine.  The second Santa Fe will feature a long-wheelbase configuration that will have a third row seat and will fit up to seven passengers.  The Santa Fe Sport is in dealerships now while the larger 2013 Santa Fe will make it's debut in January 2013.

HMA Announced 2013 Hyundai Veloster Pricing

Hyundai to put 100,000 more cars on sale

    Hyundai has a problem that a lot of other brands might envy -- not enough cars to sell. Now it's doing something about it.
    The South Korean automaker is trying to squeeze an additional 100,000 cars for its dealers to sell this year, says John Krafcik, the company's North American CEO.
    As it stands, the South Korean automaker's assembly and engine plants in Montgomery, Ala., are almost at capacity. But the company expects to reduce the portion of cars its sells to fleet customers (rental companies, government agencies and corporations) from about 10% to between 5% and 6%, Krafcik told journalists in Birmingham, Mich.
    Hyundai also should gain incremental capacity from new models it is introducing that are produced in South Korea, such as the redesigned full-size Azera sedan, which just went on sale, and the new Genesis coupe, which went on sale last month.
    That's good news for dealers because Hyundai had only 55,000 cars available at the end of March, but had sold nearly 70,000. By the end of the month, Hyundai's inventory had dwindled to 25 days' supply compared with an industry average of 55 days, according to WardsAuto.com."We are literally selling cars off the transporters," Krafcik said.
    The automaker's chairman, Chung Mong-koo, has decided that Hyundai, following several years of rapid growth, should improve quality, customer service and supplier relations before adding new plants in North America.
    Azera gets 29 miles per gallon on the highway and 20 mpg in the city. It costs $32,000 to $36,000, depending on options."We are driven by this goal to be the most-loved car company," Krafcik said. "It's not about volume."
    The 2013 Genesis coupe comes with either a 2-liter, four-cylinder engine that generates 274 horsepower or a 3.8-liter, V-6 engine that generates 348 horsepower. Prices range from about $24,000 to more than $34,000.

TWO ALL-NEW SANTA FE MODELS MAKE THEIR DEBUT AT THE 2012 NEW YORK INTERNATIONAL AUTO SHOW

Local author, car sales veteran joins North Charleston dealership

The Berkeley County native who penned inspirational books “Stay Driven” and “Move Forward” has made an automotive move of his own lately.

Archie J. Smalls, a 28-year veteran of the car trade, said recently that he is working at Rick Hendrick Hyundai North in North Charleston.

In his books, Smalls notes that he was the first minority to open a successful auto dealership in Moncks Corner. The venture, Smalls Auto Sales Inc., started in December 1996 and was in business into the late 2000s. He has been employed at a couple of dealerships since then and also was out of the automotive field for a year or two.
Smalls’ second book, “Move Forward! Position Yourself to Success,” came out in July. He is listed in the front of the book as “motivator and mentor.”

The new book includes chapters on Perseverance, Making a New Start and We Need to Put Our Trust in God.
Among the events he relates from his life and career is an uplifting story about his first auto sales job.
He ran his own cabinet shop for close to seven years, then one day saw a want ad in the newspaper for a car salesman. He visited the store on Monday and was turned down yet returned every day of the week, receiving encouraging words from his mother Thelma R. Smalls, “Son, just have faith and don’t give up if you really want that sales position.”
Finally that Friday, wearing a new suit, Smalls got the job: the manager told him, “You don’t give up. I told you we were not hiring, and you still came back.”
Smalls was paid solely on commission, so if he didn’t sell any cars, he wouldn’t be paid. He made a sale the first day. “Now, I’m not going to take all the credit for this sale. I must first thank God and then give my dear mother, who is now deceased, credit for encouraging me not to give up,” he wrote.
Within three months, Smalls had been named salesman of the month

Elantra Lineup Grows with Coupe, 5-Door GT

After winning the 2012 North American Car of the Year, the Elantra is keeping the pedal to the metal by introducing two new variants- the athletic coupe and a five door hatchback called the GT.  The 2013 coupe will maintain the sedan's fluidic design and showcase a particularly aggressive wedge-shaped profile that is just as aerodynamic as it looks.  The new Elantra will be longer and wider and will ride on a longer wheelbase, delivering both a smoother ride and increased interior space.  Both of these vehicle are expected to be hitting dealerships later this year.

2013 Genesis Coupe reveals more aggressive design coupled with serious performance credentials
